Value Innovation through Imaging Informatics - SIIM News Fall 2009

SIIMNews_2009FallCover.jpg

Following on a successful annual meeting in 2009, in which a new learning track format and expanded networking opportunities were introduced, the SIIM 2010 Annual Meeting Program Committee has introduced a program that will create a greater intellectual link between the educational content and the technical exhibits. The meeting theme — “Value Innovation through Imaging Informatics” — will focus on clinically relevant topics such as timeliness, meaningful use, business analytics, and new tools that imaging informatics professionals will want to try to improve quality, efficiency, and workflow at their institutions.

SIIM 2010 takes place June 3-6 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

SIIM 2010 will integrate the flow between the educational sessions and technical exhibits, building on the annual meeting’s rich history of interchange between vendors and attendees. Highlights include new learning tracks, vendor tie-in sessions as part of the applied learning program, and a shared learning community in the exhibit hall to showcase special events, such as the Open Source Plug Fest, Roundtables, an Innovation Theater for corporate presentations and  demonstrations, posters and demonstrations, and the caBIG demonstration.

SIIM works with its corporate partners year-round to create active and ongoing relationships with imaging informatics professionals. The synergy developed through these partnerships culminates at the annual meeting, where both sides come together to share knowledge and perspectives to create an intellectual link between the industry’s newest products and services and the SIIM 2010 program.

The SIIM 2010 program will feature new topics and innovative programming to connect the educational and technical exhibits areas. Eight learning tracks each contain three components — an educational session, a scientific session, and an applied learning session.

Of particular note for 2010 are the vendor tie-in applied learning sessions. These sessions will be an extension of the applied learning component for four of the eight learning tracks at SIIM 2010 (see the tracks featured in bold below).

  • Practical Imaging Informatics
  • Automated Reporting Systems
  • New Tools in Data Management
  • Advanced Visualization
  • Image Intensive Specialties
  • Imaging Center PACS
  • Interoperability & Integration
  • Business Intelligence Analytics

Vendor tie-in sessions will allow a unique opportunity for SIIM corporate member exhibitors’ technical personnel to present systems and potential solutions to the topics discussed in the related applied learning track.

SIIM 2010 will continue to provide outreach to other specialties, including pathology, cardiology, veterinary medicine, dentistry, ophthalmology, and others.

SIIM 2010 is where theory and the real world meet, with dynamic interaction between practitioners and vendors. You’ll take home practices and solutions to improve workflow, data management, communication, and business analytics of medical imaging.
