Practice Guidelines & Technical Standards

SIIM collaborates with the ACR and the AAPM on the development of practice guidelines in the field of imaging informatics.

The practice guidelines and technical standard documents listed below were revised in 2012 and are published online freely available and in the Februrary 2013 issue of the Journal of Digital Imaging.

SIIM member representatives on the 2012 collaborative committees are listed under the specific practice guideline or technical standard.

ACR-AAPM-SIIM Practice Guideline For Digital Radiography (2012)
This guideline was developed collaboratively by the American College of Radiology (ACR), the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM), and the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM).

ACR-AAPM-SIIM Practice Guideline For Determinants Of Image Quality In Digital Mammography (2012)
This guideline was developed collaboratively by the American College of Radiology (ACR), the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM), the Radiological Society of North American (RSNA), and the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM).

ACR -AAPM -SIIM Technical Standard for Electronic Practice of Medical Imaging (2012)
This standard became effective in 2007 upon the sunset of the ACR Technical Standard for Teleradiology and the ACR Technical Standard for Digital Image Data Management.
