Introduction

The SCAR Curriculum for Radiology Informatics Fellowship Training is intended as a guide for radiologists who are interested in the application of computers to radiology.

The Curriculum is divided into four sections: Information Technology, Clinical Informatics, Administration, and Academics. A bibliography of related educational publications is appended.

The section on Clinical Informatics contains most of the information that a radiology resident might be expected to understand about Informatics (but in greater depth than most residents would need).

The section on Administration would be of greatest use to PACS Administrators.

The section on Information Technology would be most useful to IT professionals who intend to support the radiology department. Fellows in Radiology Informatics would naturally be expected to master the content of all 4 sections.

The section on Information Technology has links to online educational resources. The other sections predominantly refer to the bibliography.

This Curriculum is intend to be a living document. Changes, reorganizations, and addition of new topics should be expected. The Curriculum is an initiative of the Education Committee of the Society for Computer Applications in Radiology.
